How to Choose Heat Shrink Wrapping Machine?

Introduction:
How to choose a shrink film machine that suits you?Heat shrink film machines usually consist of a shrink tunnel and a sealing machine. If you are looking for a suitable heat shrink film machine for your factory and don’t know where to start, the following article can teach you how to choose a suitable shrink wrap machine. We will introduce the characteristics and working principles of various types of shrink film machines to help you find the machine you want.

Shrink Bundling machine

Shrink bundling, also known as bullseye packaging, is a method commonly used for packaging multiple items together, such as bottles of water. This method leaves openings at both ends of the package, which resemble a bullseye, hence the name.

L-Type Sealing Machine (L-Sealers)

Uses two L-shaped sealing knives to seal and cut the product. It features automatic film feeding and punching. The guide mold system can be manually adjusted to accommodate products of different widths and heights, but the length and width must not exceed the side sealing dimensions. The maximum product height is 150mm. Models are generally named according to the sealing width. The knife operates on a pivot mechanism, making it unsuitable for very tall products.

The position of the edge seal line is irregular. If you are packaging more regular-shaped products, such as square or rectangular items, the result may not be very aesthetically pleasing. Typically, PE and POF films are used.

Automatic Side Seal Shrink Wrappers(Scissor packaging automatic sealing machine)

The fully automatic sealing and cutting machine can be used for fully automatic online shrink packaging of products. It uses photoelectric detection of products. It can choose automatic feeding or manual feeding modes. It uses folded film and can seal the other three sides. The side sealer has two side sealing knives on the side. The entire horizontal sealing and side sealing height can be adjusted. The packaging of products with regular shapes is more beautiful because the sealing and cutting position can be adjusted to the middle, which the L-type sealing and cutting machine cannot do. The side sealing machine is more stable. The knife is opened and closed up and down to seal and cut, and the highest product can be 600mm.

The constant temperature heating sealing and cutting system can be used to seal and cut various industrial standard heat-sealing films such as PE, PVC, and POF. The sealing is firm and beautiful, especially suitable for POF film sealing and cutting. When changing the product size, you only need to make simple adjustments through the hand wheel without replacing any parts, which reduces the product replacement time and is easier to operate. The adjustable speed front feeding system and the storage work platform at the back make the whole machine truly realize high-speed, unmanned and automatic operation.

Large double-sided sealing machine

Install 2 side sealing rollers on the basis of the cuff machine to seal the cuff.Features of the roll film used: Generally use PE film, which has good toughness and can bear weight.Suitable for packaging large furniture, office desks, wooden doors, glass doors and other bathroom products, the length and width can be up to 1-2 meters, but the price is relatively expensive, usually equipped with a production line.

The equipment can be categorized based on the film material used, such as PVC film, POF film, and PE film packaging machines. It can also be classified by packaging method into lane-type packaging machines and automatic stacking packaging machines. Additionally, it can be divided into variable frequency and electronic speed control types based on speed adjustment.

how to choose shrink film?

The choice of shrink wrap film depends on the heat resistance of your product. If your product is something like chocolate that melts easily, you can use low-temperature film to prevent it from melting. Once you have selected the appropriate film, you can then choose the suitable machine based on the film type.

Commonly used films are PE (Polyethylene) and POF (Polyolefin), with POF including a popular subtype known as cross-linked film. The typical thickness is around 30 microns.

Advantages of PE (Polyethylene) Film:

PE film is more resilient and better able to bear weight compared to POF film, which is why sleeve-type machines for packaging bottled water typically use PE film (approximately 80 microns thick, becoming about 100 microns thick after heat shrinkage).

-Durability: PE film is very strong, resistant to punctures and tears, making it suitable for heavier products. It provides excellent moisture protection and is often used for waterproof products.

-Cost-Effectiveness:Generally, PE film is cheaper than other types of shrink films.

-Environmental Friendliness: PE film is recyclable, contributing to sustainable packaging practices.

Common Applications:Handbags and luggage, Shower curtains and tablecloths, Footwear materials,Inflatable toys and water sports equipment, Medical supplies,Stationery,Raincoats and heating pads,Plastic bags, advertising materials, and labels

If you are in any of these industries, consider using PE film for your packaging needs.

 Advantages of POF Film:

POF (Polyolefin) film is suitable for a wide range of applications, including both regular and irregularly shaped objects.

– Clarity and Gloss: POF film offers excellent clarity and gloss, making it ideal for retail products. It tightly conforms to the product’s shape, enhancing its appearance.

– Strength and Puncture Resistance: Despite being thinner, POF film is very strong and has good puncture resistance.

– Versatility: It is suitable for various shapes and sizes, providing a flexible packaging solution.

– Cost: POF film is generally more expensive than PE film, which may increase the overall packaging cost.

– Heat Sensitivity: POF film is more sensitive to heat and requires careful handling and storage to prevent warping or damage.

Environmental Impact:Recyclability: Although POF film is recyclable, its recycling rate is typically lower than that of PE film due to less extensive collection and recycling infrastructure.

Applications:1.Retail Products: Ideal for products requiring high clarity and a glossy finish.

2.Irregularly Shaped Items: Excellent for packaging items that need a tight-fitting, form-conforming wrap.

POF film’s combination of aesthetic appeal and strong protective qualities makes it an excellent choice for many packaging applications, especially in retail. However, its higher cost and sensitivity to heat are important factors to consider when choosing between POF and other types of films like PE.

Disadvantages of PVC Film:

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) film, despite the shrink film price is low, is not advisable for use due to several significant drawbacks.

Toxicity: PVC film contains harmful chemicals, making it unsafe for food packaging. The release of toxic substances during production and disposal poses serious health and environmental risks.

Limited Industrial Use: Due to its toxicity, PVC film is rarely used in industrial applications. Its adverse effects on health and the environment have led to a decline in its usage across various industries.

Incompatibility with Machines: PVC film is not suitable for modern packaging machines.
